CIPR

I am honoured to be nominated for the role of President of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR). As the co-founder and CEO of Curzon PR, I have had the privilege of working for 15 years with a global portfolio of corporate, governmental, and non-profit clients. My role as Resident PR Expert at Said Business School, University of Oxford, over the past six years has enabled me to champion the value of PR to entrepreneurs, professionals, and business leaders.

I am passionate about the role of public relations in shaping narratives, building trust, and driving social impact. If I have the honour to be the  CIPR President, I will focus on three areas critical to the future of our profession: AI-driven innovation, professionalisation, and global engagement.

1. AI-Driven Innovation:

Embracing Technological Advancements

Artificial intelligence and digital technology are revolutionising the field of public relations. From data analytics to automated content creation, AI-driven tools offer new opportunities for PR professionals to elevate their strategies and impact. CIPR must be at the forefront of this digital transformation and equipping and future-proofing members with the requisite skills.

As President, I will advocate for the development of specialised training programmes in AI, data analytics, and emerging technologies, combining free and paid learning resources to ensure no one is left behind. CIPR must lead the conversation on the responsible use of AI, ensuring it raises awareness of the risks whilst unlocking the opportunity for PR practitioners.

2. Professionalisation of the PR Industry:

Elevating Standards and Expertise

In an era marked by misinformation, the role of public relations is vital. PR practitioners must be recognised as trusted advisors and strategic partners at the highest decision-making levels. However, our profession is undervalued, and remuneration does not reflect our unique skill set and complexity.

To address this, I will focus on strengthening CIPR’s professional development programmes by expanding qualification pathways and supporting continuous professional development (CPD) initiatives. Communicating outside the PR industry will enhance the reputation of PR and attract more diverse talent, aligning with CIPR’s mission to elevate PR as a strategic, ethical, and trusted profession.

3. Global Engagement:

Strengthening International Influence

In today’s interconnected world, public relations transcends borders. As President, I will prioritise global engagement by fostering stronger relationships between CIPR and international PR bodies, aligning with CIPR’s vision of positioning its members at the forefront of global best practices.

My experience with international clients provides me with a unique perspective on cross-border communication. I will work to ensure that CIPR members are prepared to operate globally by expanding partnerships, knowledge-sharing, and access to global PR resources. This will elevate CIPR’s influence and attract more international members thereby increasing revenues.

I would be honoured to serve as your President, working alongside members to achieve these goals and shape the future of public relations. Our profession is at a crossroads and I believe the confluence of AI, professionalisation and global thinking will usher in a new and exciting era for our profession.
